I call upon the Necronomicon to revive this blog!

So I'm going to make an attempt bring this blog back to life. One of my first postings on this blog explains how I never stick to anything and I was only focused on Spaced Out for a few short, fleeting months before moving on to other things. That is much longer than my attention span normally allows. But it's well over a year later and I'm going to restart my attempt as a blogger by recreating the "101 in 1001" list I created (but never finished) on August 14, 2009. By my count, I still have 10 months to complete the list, having it end on May 11, 2012, but I may make a few modifications seeing as how I never completed the list to begin with. My life is in a completely different place than I though it would be over the course of the past year so it should be fun to take a look at what my priorities were. Let us take a look together shall we?

1. Paint a Portrait
-Never did it...never really plan to really. I don't work with traditional medium much anymore, and when I do, I never do realism anymore.

2. Buy a Pair of Oakley Sunglasses
-Got a pair for my birthday in 2010, from my bff, Courtney Harty.

3. Pay all my bills on time for 6 months.
-Actually I've been doing this for far longer than 6 months and I'm a little bit baffled as to why it needed to be on the list in the first place. And it's number 3 no less! Was I really that bad with deadlines?

4. See the movie The Godfather
-Still haven't...I will one day.

5. Take a life drawing class
-The college I currently attend doesn't offer life drawing classes. I could probably sit in on one at UNCW

6. Join yoga
-I did a couple pilate classes. Which is way more hardcore.

7. Go jogging every day for a month
-Meh. I do cardio pretty frequently at the gym nowadays. Not every single day though so I can't check this one off.

8. Start up a portfolio website for my artwork.
It's definitely nothing special and was created in a rush but it's a portfolio none the less. It needs to be updated though.

9. Grow a sunflower
-I still really want to do this but I currently live in an apartment so I'd have to settle for one of those miniature sunflower kits.

10. Get a bicycle
-I did one better and got two! One was a generous christmas gift from my brother and the other was snagged from some friends who left it behind when they moved to St. Louis.

11. Put $1000 away into a savings account
-No further comments.

12. Cook a big meal for someone I love
-I've been cooking quite a lot lately, but I either cook for myself like a lonely, smelly loser, or I cook along side with friends and feast with them. I think that counts.

13. Win a round of chess
-Whilst in Russia (completely different story) I witnessed a rousing game of chess between my traveling partner and an awesome 'chap' from London. I now slightly regret not haven taken part...not that I would have won.

14. Buy a professional looking outfit
-Fuck that, I'm a waitress forever. Dress up for the job you want? Fine. Imma dress like batman.

15. Go to a convention (E3, comiccon)
-Need a press pass for access to E3. Total bummer. Maybe one day.

16. Dye my hair
-My hair has been red for over a year now. For awhile it also had black highlights. Every strand of hair that was dyed black is a direct correlation to how cool I am.

17. Get an external hard drive and backup all my files.
-Yeah...about that. I in fact did get an external harddrive and backup the things that were irreplaceable and important to me. But it died. Only shortly after the harddrive on my imac died. So I end up with nothing. It counts, I lost everything!

18. Make an article of clothing from scratch
-Not yet, no.

19. Go to an Aquarium
-I went to the zoo/aquarium during my visit to Baltimore, MD.

20. Write letters to my friends (0/30)
-I may have written a couple. If I have I lost count.

21. Subscribe to a magazine
-I have my eye on High Frustose. Too bad they only release 4 issues per year.

22. Learn to surf
-I've gone a couple times but not sure if I can consider the skill "learned".

23. Wash my car on a nice day
-PSH.

24. Write a short story
-Again I return to my eternal dilemma of never finishing anything. I've written, but never completed.

25. Take a nice picture of my siblings and I for my mom
-We did actually.

26. Try catfish
-Yeah I'll get right on that.

27. Read more books (4/10)
-I read, Castle in the Sky, The Bone Garden, Salems Lot, and The House of Many Ways. I also re-read 4 out of 7 of the Harry Potter books but those are repeats so I won't count them.

28. Visit NY
-Several times in fact. NY is my bitch.

29. Fill up a sketchbook in just one month
-Again, I don't work with traditional media much. Even my sketches are done directly on the computer. So this one will likely not get done.

30. Change all my light bulbs to energy efficient
-I did a quick count. 14 lightbulbs are in the apartment (not counting Deans room) and only 3 are energy efficient. We hate the planet. Those damn lightbulbs are expensive! 9 year guarantee my ass.

31. Fly a kite
-After I do that I'll run through a meadow of flowers. I must have been desperate for things to put on this list.

32. Take a long walk in no particular direction
-How long is long? Ever since I moved to the downtown area of Wilmington, I find myself talking decently long walks in our beloved "Historical District".

33. Learn basic piano
-I know chords and I can play songs. With both hands no less. That's basic enough.

34. Hold a tarantula.
-Not for lack of courage or anything. The opportunity has just yet to present itself.

35. Take a picture of myself everyday (x100)
-Ehhh...That sounds like a lot of effort.

36. Donate Blood
-I did. I sold my blood in exchange for mediocre crackers and a tiny juice box.

37. Raise $500 in a fundraiser and donate it to a charity
-This one would be a true project if I ever dedicate the effort towards it. Genuine effort is always worth it though.

38. Frame and hang up pictures of friends and family
-As a matter of fact, I have a total of 4 framed pictures in my room, which include both friends and family.

39. Make my own salsa
-I have yet to do this, but I have indulged myself on the delicious salsa Dean makes.

40. Paint my nails at least 20 different colors
-I'm assuming I didn't mean all at once...Unless toes are included. I have been exploratory with my nail color choices but I doubt I've reached 20.

41. Make 5 different desserts from scratch
-Without a doubt. I've even invented a couple. Top favorites being Blunana Pie and Tar Pit Pie.

42. Write a letter to the president
-Seriously? Why in the holy mother of fuck would I ever want to do that? I mean really?

43. Eat a strange flavor of beef jerky
-Down the street from my current apartment is a hot sauce store that Dean and I like to frequent. They sell various jerky including Kangaroo, Alligator, Deer and Boar.

44. Talk to a stranger
-Um...It's called everyday social interactions. I'm really starting to think I was consuming some sort of mind altering chemical whilst composing this list.

45. Learn and perform a monologue
-Now here is one that sounds fun and interesting. Now to find an audience.

46. Scare someone
-I scare my mom everyday by not making the transition into adulthood.

47. Call my mom every week for a month
-Eh...I think this applied more when I didn't live so close to her. I think I'd just annoy and confuse her if I did this now.

48. Watch a sports game
-My buddy Laura made me sit through a football game or two. As unwillingly as it was.

49. Learn the alphabet in sign language
-Didn't I learn this as a girl scout in second grade? Seriously, was it even me that wrote this list?

50. Get an associates degree
-Totally almost there...yeah.

51. Donate hair to locks of love
-Physically impossible at this point. My hair has been dyed for the past year and I recently cut off about 7 inches.

52. Set off a firework
-I suppose a sparkler doesn't count.

53. Try out a new hairstyle every day for a week.
-Bitch please.

54. Adopt a dog from a shelter
-Actually here is one that I didn't think I would do. But I did.
Lucca. Female. 2yo. Chocolate Lab Mix. 30lbs. Rescued stray.
She's a lot of work, but I don't regret it.

55. Ride an elephant
-Want to at the soonest convenience of the nearest elephant.

56. Spend a whole day just laying on the beach
-I've definitely spent many hours at a time laying on the beach, but I'm not quite sure it counts as the whole day. Usually around 3pm the beach bar calls to me.

57. Organize a 40 hour famine for charity
-Only 40 hours? Psh.

58. Work on making my handwriting neater
-Yeah okay, I'll get right on that.

59. Wake up really early one morning for no reason
-I do that pretty frequently during my breaks from school.

60. Fill up my piggy bank with change
-It's not quite full but it's hard to accumulate change when I use my debit card for everything.

61. Leave a server a 100% tip.
-I actually have done this. Though it was a $2 tip for a $2 beer. Since no further rules were elaborated I feel it should count.

62. Go to Australia with my sister
-I'm gettin there.

63. Babysit
-I was super short on cash so I got a babysitting job through sittercity. I guess her kids didn't like me though because I didn't get a call back. Not that I'm too torn up about it though.

64. Get a laptop
-As a matter of fact, I had no choice. My imacs harddrive croaked on my and I was in the middle of the semester. Being a college student with no internets to speak of is unacceptable.

65. Apply to the Peace corps
-I began the application process, though you need a bachelors degree for completion. Details, Details.

66. Go hiking
-I really should be taking advantage of all the hiking opportunities Wilmington provides.

67. Play tennis regularly
-Ever since I acquired several rackets I play every now and again...probably not enough to be considered "regularly".

68. No cursing for a week.
-Fuck that.

69. Give a dog a bath
-Well seeing as how I have a dog now, she get's baths quite regularly.

70. Beat super Mario 3
-That game is my bitch.

71. Climb a tree
-Greenfeild lake has some of the perfect climbing trees.

It's higher up than it looks, I assure you.

72. Do a jig saw puzzle
-Actually I came very close to buying one of the NYC skyline. It was a decent size and I dreamed of framing it upon completion. However those dreams were shattered when I thought of even attempting a jigsaw puzzle with my rambunctious dog trying to steal my attention every second she can. Also it's a space issue.

73. Clean the bathroom
-Did I seriously think I would go 2 and half years without cleaning the bathroom? I mean my standards of clean aren't the highest, but come on!

74. Eat dinner at a dinner table
-I currently don't own a dinner table but I ate dinner rather regularly at my Aunts house for awhile. It was indeed at a dinner table.

75. Get some fresh flowers and put them in a vase
-Since I work in banquets, whenever there is a wedding event, there's usually a lot of leftover fresh flowers. I take them. It makes me feel girly.

76. Hula hoop for 5 minutes straight
-Sure!

77. Get a baritone ukulele
-Hell yeah! I love it. I can't go back to playing a soprano really. They're so so tiny. Even though my baritone is louder, it is still strongly overpowered by a guitar.

78. Update my music
-I have many times since making this list. Big thanks to pandora.

79. Take my mom out to dinner
-It happens here and there.

80. Write a song
-I have. But you'll never hear it. I guess there's no way of proving it then but fuck you it's my list.

81. Start a video blog on youtube
-It's not so much a v-log as it is an assortment of random videos.
Right Here.
But I hardly update it so this won't count.

82. Submit at least 20 videos on youtube
-Not nearly.

83. Learn more about Micromedia Flash
-That shit is like Greek to me.

84. And use it to make a short animation
-It would be cool to make one frame by frame. Tedious. But cool.

85. Make a sculpture
-And again, I don't work with traditional media much anymore.

86. Set up a commission website for my artwork
-It's not on it's own website or anything but Ba-zing!

87. Make a profit of my artwork
-Actually I've made a decent profit on my artwork in the past year. Of course not nearly enough to live off of. Barely enough to eat off of. But it's something. And it makes me feel good that people like my art enough to pay me to draw for them.

88. Get a fish
-Nah I'll pass.

89. …And keep it alive
-Who want's a fish?

90. Finish this list.
-That's a big fat maybe.

So I inadvertently completed 38 items on the list. That's not bad for having not paid any attention to it. Maybe instead of creating an entirely new list and resetting the deadline, I'll just create a list of 63 and keep my deadline of May 11, 2012.

This blog has offically risen from the dead and is now craving the flash of humans.
